  • Centre has decided to allow APM Terminals Pipava Port in Gujrat and L&T Kattupalli Port in Chennai to handle import of high end cars/vehicles.
    At present there are six seaports and three airports are allowed to handle import of these high end vehicles.
  • Railway Ministry constituted the Kaya Kalp council and appointed Ratan Tata as its head. The purpose of the council is to recommend innovative methods and process for the improvement  and transformation of Railways.
  • National Spot Exchange launched Quality 30 Index. This indes aims to reflect performance of stocks of top 30 quality companies chosen from a pool of 100 large and liquid companies listed on the NSE.


  • India will host the 7th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in 2016, announced by Home Minister Rajath Singh at the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Sendia, Japan.
  • Kerala’s The Gender Park is organising the three day Intrnational Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE-I) from November with theme Gender, Governance and Inclusion.
  • International Conference on Counter Terrorism begins in Jaipur.
  • Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Dedicated Frieght Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCI) signed MoU for creation of logistics hubs with rail connectivity at Varanasi and other places on National Waterways.


  • Dr. Venkataraman Ramakrishnan was confirmed President-Elect of the Royal Society. He is the first Indian born scientist to be elected as president of Royal Society. First Indian to be elected was S. Ramanujan. Dr. Ramakrishnan will replace Sir Paul Nurse. He also shared Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2009 with Tom Steitz and Ada Yonath on the structure and function of Ribosome (Molecular Biology).
